William R. Hiatt, age 89, of Huron, died Tuesday morning, Sept. 10, 2013, in Admiral's Pointe, Huron.
He was born July 23, 1924, in Wilmington, Ohio, and was a resident of Huron since 1967, coming from Hamden, Conn.
He was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati in 1950, and received his master's degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He retired from New Departure Hyatt in 1986 after 26 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and enjoyed bike riding, wood working, and music.
Bill is survived by his wife, the former Maralyn Yount, to whom he was married for 62 years; daughter, Anne (Gary) Hinton of Huron; son, David (Deborah) Hiatt of Sylvania, Ohio; four grandchildren, Megan (Shawn) McClory, Alison Talcott, Matthew (Jamee) Hiatt, and Lisa Hiatt; four great-grandchildren, Sara, Jayna, Jackson, and Maycee; and a brother, Gordon (Aileen) Hiatt of Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Adella Hiatt; and sister, Emily Cornett.
Friends may call 10 a.m.-noon Monday, Sept. 16, at Foster Funeral Home and Crematory, 410 Main St., Huron, where service will follow at noon. Burial will be in Scott Cemetery.
