Francis J. “Frank” Fritz, 86, Allentown, Pa., passed away Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, in Hospice House of St. Luke’s Hospital, Lower Saucon Twp., Pa.
He was born April 11, 1927, in Lansford, Pa., and was the son of John and Lucy (Maradeo) Fritz.
He was the owner of Fritz Exxon, later the 15th St. Shell in Allentown, for over 50 years. Frank was an Army veteran, stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He served with the 8th Regimental Combat Team and earned the rank of sergeant first class. He was a member of the Cathedral of St. Catherine of Siena, and Brookside County Club for many years. He was an avid golfer and won numerous local golf tournaments. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Dealers Association.
Frank is survived by his daughter, Linda Fritz-Gasteier and son-in-law Chris Gasteier of Sandusky; grandchildren, Gretchen Gasteier of Washington D.C., Jefferson Gasteier of Columbus, Ohio, and Peter Gasteier of Sandusky; former wife, Frances H. Fritz, to whom he was married 55 years; sister, Philomena Bloomfield of Whitehall, Pa.; brother, Gabriel Fritz of Lansford, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, John A. Fritz in 2012; and brother, Ted Fritz in June, 2013.
A mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at Cathedral of St. Catherine of Siena, 216 N. 18th St., Allentown. Calling hours will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the church.
