Yochi Oka Hudgin, 83, of Sandusky, passed away Friday afternoon, Sept. 6, 2013, in Erie County Care Facility, following a lengthy illness.
She was born July 7, 1930, in Kagoshima, Japan, to Yoshinobu and Toyochiyo Okamura.
Yochi was a 1947 graduate of Young Woman’s School. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, cooking, shopping, listening to music, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her three children, Michael Oka (Marsha) of Canton, Ohio, Patrick Thomas (Jahna) Hudgin of Fort Worth, Texas, and Mary Theresa Jordan of Willard; seven grandchildren, Jeremy Jordan, Sean Hudgin, Jennifer Jordan, Joshua Hudgin, Christopher Hudgin, Jessica Jordan, and Ryan Hudgin USN; two great-grandchildren; her brother, Murayoshimaru (Miyako) Okamura of Kagoshima; many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas John Hudgin in 1996.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
