Donald G. Martin, 80, of Sandusky died unexpectedly late Wednesday morning, Jan. 19, 2011, in his home.

He was born in Sandusky, Jan. 15, 1931. Don owned and operated Martin Motors on Venice Road in Sandusky for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and spending time at the Sandusky Speedway where he raced and towed cars for many years. Don never had a problem helping others in need and enjoyed spending time with friends and family at his shop on Venice Road.

He is survived by three daughters, Cathy (Ron) Gruhlke of Illinois, and Tina (Ron) Wildenthaler and Kitty Martin, both of Sandusky; grandchildren, Ron, Louie, Harold, Nichole, Cori, Joshua, Laci, J.D. and Chris; his former wife, Elaine (Keefer) Martin of Sandusky; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Sylvia (Cutcher) Martin-Stacker; stepfather, Elmer Stacker; and three sisters, Virginia Osborne, Gloria Shupe and Shirley Mitchell.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. Monday until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m. in First Christian Church, 3410 Hayes Ave., Sandusky. Pastor Don Spurlock will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society of Erie County, 1911 Superior St., Sandusky, OH 44870 or one's favorite charity.
