John H. "Chuck" Schenk Sr., 71, Huron, passed away Monday, Oct. 18, 2010, in Firelands Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was born Sept. 21, 1939, in Huron Township, son of the late Margaret (Brant) and Albert Schenk Sr. John was an electrician and worked for IBEW Local 245 for 42 years; he was a member of IBEW Local 245. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church (Scheid Road). He enjoyed farming, traveling and "hanging out" with his kids and grandkids.
John is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary E. (Klein) Schenk, whom he married June 13, 1959; two daughters, Cindy (Lewis) Marquart of Columbia Station, Ohio, and Barbara (Michael) Richardson of Huron; three sons, Edward (Lisa) Schenk, Robert Schenk of Monroeville and John (Jennifer) Schenk Jr. of Perkins Township; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four sisters, Katherine Wagner of Dublin, Ohio, Ruth Likes of Bellevue, Mary (Carl) Boos of Perkins Township and Margaret (Eugene) Ommert of Huron; brother, Albert J. Schenk Jr.; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert J. Schenk.
Friends may call from noon Saturday until a memorial service at 2 p.m. in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky; the Rev. Wanda Ray of Christ Church in Huron will officiate.
