Lillie B. Terry, 89, of Huron, died Saturday, August 31, 2013, in her residence after an extended illness.
She was born June 30, 1924, in Warrensville, Ohio, and had been a Huron resident since 1962, coming from Wellington, Ohio.
She graduated from Avon Lake High School in 1942, and then received her BS in Education from Kent State University.
Lillie started teaching sixth grade in 1945 at McCormick School, Huron, and taught in Kipton and Wellington and then came back to Huron to teach in 1962, retiring in 1986.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Huron, the American Legion Auxiliary in Wakeman, and the Erie County Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed knitting, traveling, gardening, watching sporting events, and her family.
She is survived by three daughters, Saundra (Dennis) Forthofer, of Huron, Blanche Kathleen Terry of Westerville, Ohio, and Lillie (Walter) Merrill of Columbia Station, Ohio; two sons, Bennie (Debra) Terry of Wellington, and Dale (Lillian) Terry of Huron; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Elaine Valentin of Dublin, Ohio, Arlene Beck of Nova, Ohio, and Elsie Stegman of New London; and a brother, Russell Beck of Avon Lake, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie Terry in 1973; her twin granddaughter, Valerie Felton; and a brother, Carl Beck.
Friends may call 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at Foster Funeral Home & Crematory, 410 Main St., Huron. Those wishing to attend the graveside committal service will meet at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at the United Methodist Church, 338 Williams St., Huron, and leave at 9:30 a.m. to go to Collins Cemetery, Townsend Twp. A funeral memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, after the committal service, at the United Methodist Church, Huron, with Rev. J. Roger Skelley-Watts, officiating.
