Edward M. Toomey, 69, Huron, died unexpectedly at his home Monday morning, Sept. 20, 2010.
He was the son of the late Lily T. (Blood) and William E. Toomey, born Aug. 2, 1941, in Cleveland. He was a 1959 graduate of Aurora High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and Ohio National Guard, retiring as a 1st Sgt. in 1988.
Ed was employed by AdWriter, Inc. for 42 years and was serving as president. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, NAREP (serving as its secretary) and Rocky River American Legion Post 2011.
He is survived by his daughter, Rhonda (Toomey) Esparza of Palm Harbor, Fla.; sister, Mary Jane (John) Keller of Streetsboro; niece, Christine (Wayne) Milliken of Streetsboro; great-nephew, Darian; and Ed's finance, Debra Plesluska of Palm Harbor.
He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Edward Toomey, who died March 10, 1986; and his parents.
Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Sunday in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. Burial with full military honors will be in Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Rittman, Ohio, at 12:30 p.m. Monday.
