Lavern Rose Swartz, 90, of Bellevue, passed away Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at her daughter’s home in Bowling Green, Ohio.
She was born Dec. 27, 1922, in Marywood, daughter of the late Leo and Rose (Falter) Schneider. Lavern worked at Zehner Packing Company, Hogue's IGA, Miller’s Drive-in and catered for many weddings and events. She also volunteered for 12 years at The Bellevue Hospital.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and its Altar Rosary Society. She enjoyed playing cards, baking and crocheting.
Lavern married Edward J. Swartz on Oct. 1, 1949, at Sorrowful Mother Shrine. He preceded her in death in 1967.
Survivors include her sons, John (Debra) Swartz, Steven (Mary) Swartz and Jim (Nancy) Swartz, all of Bellevue; daughter, Elaine (Stephen) Sattler, of Bowling Green; grandchildren, Jessica (Swartz) Noble and Jeremy Swartz, of Bluffton, S.C., Andrew Sattler and Katie Sattler, of Bowling Green, and Elizabeth Swartz, of Bellevue; and great-grandchild, Brendan Noble, and a soon to be great-grandson. Stepgrandchildren include Heather Rex, Naomi Branham, Jamie Rollingson, Andrew Lawrence, Ryan Lawrence and Dawn Seaman; and 12 stepgreat-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Jeanette (Schneider) Hay and Elizabeth (Swartz) Bertsch.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son in infancy and her brothers, Berdell Schneider and Harold Schneider.
Friends will be received 2-8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, at Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue, where the Rosary will be recited at 2 p.m. A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Church, 231 E. Center St., Bellevue. Burial will follow at Bellevue Catholic Cemetery.
