Lewis H. "The Bear" Alley, 81, of Frazeysburg, Ohio, and formerly of Sandusky, went Home to be with the Lord early Wednesday morning, Aug. 21, 2013, in Kindred Transitional Care & Rehabilitation Facility of Pickerington, in Pickerington, Ohio.
He was born April 24, 1932, in Victor, W.Va., son of the late Lester and Russie (Dempsey) Alley. He worked at Sandusky Ford Motor Company for more than 30 years before retiring.
He loved hunting and spending time with his family and his grandchildren. Lewis was a member of the Faith Memorial Assembly of God.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Avanelle (Gilmore) Alley; his family, Elizabeth "Libby" (John) Brinson of Pickerington, Lewis Scott Alley, of Hawaii, and Eric David Nickles; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Mike Alley, of Florida; and nieces and nephews.
Lewis was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Melinda "Sissy" Alley; two sons, Daniel R. and Mark E. Alley; his parents; a sister, Norma Alley; and two brothers, Robert and Hugh Alley.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, until the funeral service at noon at David F. Koch Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Kenneth L. Hiser will officiate. At his request, cremation will take place following the service. Interment will be later in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
