William H. Marske, 90, of Sandusky, died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, at the home of his daughter in South Rockwood, Mich.
He was born March 27, 1923, in Sandusky, and was a U. S. Army veteran, serving in Europe during WW II. William worked for New Departure Hyatt, Sandusky as a machinist, retiring in 1980.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Castalia, American Legion Post 83, Sandusky VFW, and the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by two daughters, Margaret "Peg" Church, of South Rockport, Mich., and Sharon (John) Laudeman, of Phelan, Calif.; one son, William "Tom" (Valerie) Marske, of Toledo; six grandchildren Jennifer Brown, Rebecca Church, Gregory Church, Zachary Church, Lisa LeMasters and Laura Marske; eight great-grandchildren Megan, Kylie and Ryan Brown, Emma and Karlee Church, Allison and Avery LeMasters, and Liam Joseph Foster; two sisters, Pat Church and Zelma Day; and his dear friend, Pearl Sabo.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Marske, 2008; parents, William Marske, 1934 and Leola (Smith) Marske, 1995; stepfather, Louis W. Smith, 2002; half brother, John L. Smith, 1951; and sister, Geraldine Wagner, 2010.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, until services at 11 a.m. in Grace Lutheran Church, 203 S. Washington St., Castalia. The Rev. Kathy Shuck will officiate and burial will be in Castalia Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion.
