Mary Louise Lake, 82, of Norwalk, died Tuesday afternoon, AUG. 17, 2010, at home following a lengthy illness.
She was born Sept. 22, 1927, in Cleveland, daughter of Frank and Mary (Ketcham) Goodman. She was a 1945 graduate of Milan High School and earned her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Bowling Green State University in 1949. After marrying her husband, Alden, on Sept. 24, 1950, they founded A.V. Lake Construction in Sandusky. Prior to that, she was employed as an accountant and secretary/treasurer at Harris Products/Tenneco.
Mary was a longtime member of Edison Memorial Methodist Church. She was also involved with the Milan Garden Club, the Spruce Creek Garden Club in Florida, the Car Coddlers of Ohio and was a Founding Mom of "Norwalk Delights" Red Hat Society.
Survivors include her husband, Alden "Gene" Lake; daughters, Debbie (Todd) Wagner of Norwalk and Linda (Eric Pettersen) Gormley of Connecticut; sons, Daniel Lake and his former wife, Tracy, and Jeffrey (Joanne) Lake, all of Norwalk; and 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday at Edison Memorial Methodist, 10 E. Church St., Milan, and from 10 a.m. Saturday until services at 11 a.m. The Rev. Dr. Eunchun Timothy Kim will officiate. Burial will be later at Milan Cemetery. Groff Funeral Home, Milan Chapel, is handling arrangements.
