Andrew M. Johnson Jr., 80, of Huron, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky, after an extended illness.
He was born Nov. 1, 1929, in Sandusky, and was a lifelong resident of the Huron area. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served during the Korean War. He worked for Lorain Ford Motor Company for 35 years and retired in 1991.
He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Huron, and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing, model RC airplanes, and woodworking as pastimes.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Teresa (Larizza); two daughters, Tina (Dan) Sevenbergen and Maria (Steve) Pounds of Huron; three sons, Dominic (Karen) Johnson of Sandusky, Andrew III (Maureen) Johnson of Ontario, Ohio, and Eric Johnson of Huron; 11 grandchildren, Zachary and Alyssa Murray, Ashley, Lindsey, Emily, Vaughn, Faith, and Gabrielle Johnson, Benjamin and Rachel Wilson and Jack Pounds; a great grandson, Braedon Johnson; and a sister, Ingrid (Dave) Hirschy of Willard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Ingrid (Henderson) Johnson; a sister, Mary Nistetter; and brothers, John and Adolph Johnson.
Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Foster Funeral Home, 410 Main St., Huron. A funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Catholic Church, 430 Main St., Huron, with the Rev. Jeffery Sikorski officiating. Burial will be in Scott Cemetery, Huron.
