Bernice Curtis, 86, Huron, died early Thursday morning, July 29, 2010, in Stein Hospice Care Center following a lengthy illness.
She was born Nov. 11, 1923, in Beaver Dam, Wis., daughter of the late Sophia (Kalwikowski) and Albert Vosekuil. She and her husband, Donald, operated a family vegetable stand at their home on Cleveland Road, Huron, for more than 40 years.
Bernice is survived by her daughters, Karen (Thomas) Cudnik of Huron and Tammy (David) Slauterbeck of Monroeville; grandchildren, Justin Cudnik of Maumee, Ohio, Stanley (Jane) Curtis Jr. of Sandusky, Katie McGuire of Monroeville, Joshua McGuire of Sandusky, Amy Fitzgerald of Prunedale, Calif., and Kim Forsythe of Elk Grove, Calif.; brother, Everett Vosekuil of Waupon, Wis.; and two daughters-in-law, Jane Curtis of Prunedale, Calif., and Cecilia Curtis of Sandusky.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald C. Curtis, in 1997; her parents; two sons, Stanley Curtis Sr. and Don Curtis; two brothers, Alex and Harold Vosekuil; and five sisters, Mildred Diels, Evelyn Nagler, Lorraine Vosekuil, Eleanor Frank and Berdell Hallmeyer.
Friends may call from noon Monday until services at 1 p.m. in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Bill Enderle will officiate. Inurnment will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
