Irene Carter Mulder, 68, of Norwalk died Wednesday, July 28, 2010, in Fisher-Titus Medical Center.
She was born June 8, 1942, in Gilbert, W.Va., daughter of the late Ott and Azzie Mae (Walker) Carter, and came to this area in 1972 from Gilbert Creek, W.Va. Irene was raised in Southern Baptist Church. She retired from Huron County Department of Children Services and was a former employee of Twilight Gardens Home, Venture Packaging, the Horse Shoe Bar, and was a former manager at Arby's in Norwalk. Irene enjoyed fishing, gardening, collecting dolls, word search puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Mark Mulder of Norwalk, Melissa G. and Brian Bean of Tiffin, Sharon D. Mulder of Norwalk and Phillip N. Mulder of Norwalk; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren (and one soon to be born); brother and sister-in-law, Stevie and Marie Carter of Hanover, W.Va.; and by her sisters and brother-in-law, Judy West of Hanover, Betty Jane Dean of Gilbert, and Bernice and Ed Maynard of Norwalk.
Irene was preceded in death by her daughter, Sherry W. Patterson in 2009; brothers, Tex and Curtis Carter; and sisters, Geneva Carter and Juanita Church.
Friends may call 2-5 p.m. Sunday in Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, where funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday. The Rev. Clyde Endicott will officiate. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Norwalk.
