Roger R. Kinsey, 74, of Port Clinton, passed away Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Nov. 26, 1938, in Fremont, to Donald and Dora (Reeves) Kinsey. Roger was a 1956 graduate of Port Clinton High School, he served in the U.S. Navy and also earned his journeyman tool and die card.
On Dec. 24, 1963, in Michigan, he married Catherine Wright and she preceded him in death on Feb. 23, 1989.
He worked as a tool and die maker for New Departure/GM in Sandusky for 32 years until his retirement in 1999.
Roger was a former member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Port Clinton. He was a member of Moose Lodge 1610, the Sandusky Eagles Club and the United Auto Workers union. Roger was an arborist who enjoyed collecting trees. He loved to work on anything mechanical, restoring an old 1951 Chevy truck, boat motors and tractors. Roger will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.
Survivors include his children, Lisa (Tracy) Bodi, of Port Clinton, Amy (Tommy) Harper, of Memphis, Tenn., Robert (Cindy) Kinsey, of Oak Harbor, and Mary Kinsey; grandchildren, Brandon (Amber) Harper, Eric Reynolds, Corey Harper, Ashley Sehlmeyer and Jay Harper; sister, Margie (Keith) Wagner, of Franklin, Ky.; and special friend, Sherry Otto, of Huron.
Roger was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brother, Warren Kinsey; sisters, Doris Bahnsen and Barbara Lundgard; and grandson, Nicholas Robert Kinsey.
A Graveside service, conducted by Pastor Bruce Batchelor-Glader, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, at Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 113.
