Marilyn A. Pierce, 81, of Monroeville, died unexpectedly Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, in the Fisher Titus Medical Center, Norwalk.
She was born Dec. 22, 1931, in Norwalk, and was a 1949 graduate of Monroeville High School.
She retired from Monroeville Local Schools, where she was employed as a cook for 20-plus years. Prior to that, she was employed by the Huron County Probate and Juvenile Courts. Marilyn was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monroeville. She enjoyed her grandchildren, cooking, baking, playing cards, camping and was an avid Monroeville Eagles sports fan.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Ryan and Susan (Kevin) Ryan; one son, James “Jim” Pierce, all of Monroeville; five grandchildren, Jake, Nicole, and Christopher Ryan, Hayden and Brandy Pierce; one great grandson, Ryan Tolle; one sister, Virginia (Homer) Bungard of Norwalk; and one sister-in-law, Rose Marie Fritz of Monroeville; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph W. Pierce, in 2009; two granddaughters, Ashley and Stephanie Ryan; one son-in-law, Michael Ryan; and one brother, Richard Fritz.
Friends may call 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, at Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe St., Monroeville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 66 Chapel St., Monroeville. The Rev. William Pifher will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroeville.
