Eugene Barnard, 78, of Sandusky passed away Monday afternoon, June 7, 2010, in University Hospital in Cleveland.
He was born Feb. 24, 1932, in Tazewell, Tenn. He was the manager of Shoreline Fishery and retired from there and went to work in maintenance at Sandusky Mall. Gene enjoyed fishing and was an avid "Mall Walker." He loved visiting his home state of Tennessee.
He is survived by three daughters, Helen Green of Canton, Ohio, Anna (Terry) Aceto of Sandusky and Eugenia (Kirk) Anderson of Sunbury, Ohio; four sons, Eugene (Tamara) of Sunbury, Michael (Jeannie) of Colorado, Joseph of Columbus and Ronald (MaryAnn) of New Marshfield, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four brothers, Glen Barnard of Tennessee, Milford Barnard of Sandusky, William Barnard of Chillicothe, Ohio, and Paul Barnard of Fort Smith, Ark.; and his former wife, June.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clint and Alpha (Young) Barnard; and brother, Clarence Edward Barnard.
Friends will be received 6-8 p.m. Thursday in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday in the funeral home; Pastor David L. Hixson will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
