It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved aunt, Nadine Ann Sabo Hurst. She died in Phoenix on July 24, 2013, after a lengthy illness. Her death marks the end of an epic era for our family.
Nadine was one of four children born to John and Helen Sabo in Hamtramck, Mich., on Sept. 13, 1925. The family moved from Michigan to Sandusky where Nadine attended Sandusky High school and graduated with the class of 1943.
On June 10, 1950, Nadine married her lifelong soul mate, Thomas Henry Hurst Jr. The two remained husband and wife, coworkers and best friends until Tom passed in 2005. Nadine and Tom never had any children of their own; however 12 nieces and six nephews were blessed to call them Aunt and Uncle.
In the 1960s, Nadine and Tom left Ohio and moved to Pittsburg. From there, in 1971, they moved to Phoenix where Tom bought, owned and operated Robert Half Personal Agency with Nadine at his side. Together they built their “mom and pop” operation into a successful business before they were bought out by Robert Half International, who is the current owner, and listed on the New York Stock exchange.
Aunt Nadine enjoyed country western dancing, playing cards, a good hot tub and holiday gatherings with her in-laws and extended family. We will miss her terribly, but take solace in knowing her suffering has ended and she is once again with her beloved Tom.
A few welcoming Nadine home will be her parents Helen and John Sabo; brothers, John Sabo Jr. and James Sabo; sister, Sylvia “Sally” Sabo Maloney; nephews, Mark Maloney and Thomas Hime, and, of course her soul mate, Thomas Hurst.
Memorial Services for Nadine will be at noon Friday, Aug. 16, at Heritage Funeral Chapel, 6830 W. Thunderbird Road, Peoria, Ariz.
