Clifford D. Brown 82, Sandusky, died peacefully in his home with his family at his bedside Friday, July 19, 2013.
He was born Jan. 10, 1931, in Lincoln Park, Mich., the son of Earl and Mabel Brown.
Clifford worked at the Cleveland Flats on the railroad in a variety of positions, then began to establish a number of businesses in Elyria, Ohio, Cliff Brown Coin Laundry (several locations) and Dry Cleaning, Cliff Brown Carpet and Drapery Cleaning, as well as a pizza business, a convenience store, and several other businesses.
He was a hard working man who always strived to make family, friends and customers feel welcome. He retired to Catawba Island in 1978 and then moved to Florida in 1987. He and his wife returned to Sandusky in 2004 where they lived at the Commons of Providence until moving to Parkvue Place a year ago.
Surviving are his daughter, Susan (Tom) Hartman of Marblehead; grandchildren, Nathan and Becka Hartman of Marblehead, Joseph, Clifford and Thomas Brown all of Elyria.
He was preceded in death by his wife, L. Elaine (Dirrim) Brown; son, Clifford D. Brown Jr.; parents, Earl and Mabel Brown; step mother, Elizabeth Brown; brother, William Brown; and sister, Jane Parr.
Memorial services will be planned for August.
