Crescencio Armendariz, 91, of Port Clinton, died peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, July 9, 2013, in Countryside Continuing Care Center in Fremont.
He was born May 5, 1922, in Saucillo, Chihuahua, Mexico, son of the late Jose and Perfecta (Silva) Armendariz. He married Trinidad Talamantes on Oct. 15, 1945, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 26, 2001.
Mr. Armendariz worked as a quality control inspector for GNC Foundry in Sandusky until his retirement in 1987.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Port Clinton. During his younger years, he had horses and enjoyed riding them. Later on, he enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and fishing.
Survivors include his children, Wes Armendariz, of Port Clinton, Raul (Gloria) Armendariz, of Byhalia, Miss., Armando (Josie) Armendariz, of Port Clinton, Yolanda (Salomon) Arellano, of Genoa, Ohio, Miguel (Laura) Armendariz, of Port Clinton; 22 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and several great-great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carmen Ramirez; his parents; eight brothers and three sisters; and daughter-in-law, Retha Armendariz.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 11, at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton St., Port Clinton, where prayers will begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday, July 12, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 Madison St., Port Clinton. The Rev. John C. Missler will officiate. Private burial will take place at a later date in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton.
