Doris C. (Hoelzer) Ryan, 97, of Castalia, passed away early Tuesday afternoon, July 2, 2013, at her home.
She was born Oct. 25, 1915, in Sandusky, daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Brown) Hoelzer. She was a 1933 graduate of St. Mary Central Catholic High School. Doris worked at New Departure-Hyatt (Division of General Motors) for nearly 30 years, before retiring.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Dianne (Terry) Baumeister, of Huron; two grandsons, Brett (Anna) Baumeister, of Piqua, Ohio, and Tyson Parkhurst, of Castalia; granddaughter, Kelly (Dave) Reisler, of Rising Sun, Md.; two great-grandsons, Brandon and Taylor Baumeister.
Doris was preceded in death by husband, Richard G. Ryan; son, Thomas Ryan; daughter, Peggy Parkhurst; her parents; four brothers, Norman, Frank "Sam", Raymond and Joseph Hoelzer; three sisters, Ida Mae Anderson, Margaret Rancher and Judith Lawrence; twostep sons, Richard G. Ryan and Michael Ryan; and stepdaughter, Lynda.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Friday, July 5, until prayers at 9:40 a.m. at David F. Koch Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Joe Steinbauer will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
