Creasie Lee Spearman, 81, of Sandusky, died peacefully on Thursday afternoon, June 27, 2013, in Stein Hospice Care Center surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Creasie was born Jan. 13, 1932, in Clanton, Ala., daughter of the late Jink and Amie Pearson. She graduated from Chilton County Training High School and moved to Sandusky around 1955.
Creasie loved to cook, and people loved her cooking. She will always be remembered for making her dinner rolls, dressing, and pasta salad. She was employed at Dar’s Stadium Diner for many years, and later worked as a nurses aide and a home health care aide. She also volunteered for hospice for several years. Her passion in life was being a caregiver.
Creasie was a faithful member of Providence Baptist Church for more than 40 years. During that time she held numerous positions. At the time of her death, she was secretary of the Missionary Society, head of the Nurses’ Guild, a member of Church Women United, and one of the cooks.
Surviving, and forever cherishing her memory, are her daughters, Mary Louise (Elmo) Hayes and Patricia Ann Pearson, of Las Vegas, and Cheryl Lynn (Lonnie Register) Magee, of Sandusky; two sisters, Velma Sails, of Las Vegas, and Geneva Pasley, of Millbrook, Ala.; one brother, Willie Frank (Ossie) Pearson, of Sandusky; six grandsons; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her sisters and brother in Christ, Mildred Mickles, Mary Amison, Airy B. Young, Loraine Alexander, Tina Russell, Bobbie Matthews and Judy and LZ Pearson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Moma Creasie was mother to many god children and great-god children.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Alma Holbrook, Geraldine Wilson, Winnie Woods and Eliza Henry; two brothers, Jessie Pearson and Julius Pearson; and two grandchildren, Jeremy Bushnell and Tarita Pearson.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. Friday, July 5, until funeral services at noon at Providence Baptist Church, 224 Dixie Ave., Sandusky. Pastor Scottie L. Aaron will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
