John “Uncle John” Pruitt 69, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Sunday morning, June 30, 2013, at home following a brief illness.
He was born June 11, 1944, in Coeburn, Va., to James and Faye (Stanley) Pruitt.
John was a U.S. Navy veteran serving prior to the Vietnam War. He retired from the Erie County MRDD as a driver following many years of service. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by one daughter, Jennifer (Dwayne) Williams of Sandusky; two sons, John R. (Jody) Pruitt of Milan, and Jeremy Pruitt of Sandusky; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Candy Sue Sullivan of Sandusky, and Mary (Cecil) Barrett of Six Lakes, Mich.; two brothers, James (Charlotte)Pruitt of Sandusky, and Gary (Robin) Pruitt of Mansfield; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Including his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Keene.
Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, at Groff Funeral Home and Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave. Sandusky. A time of sharing will follow at 7 p.m. Private family committal services will be held at a later time.
