Pauline Shaw, 76, of Sandusky, went home to be with the Lord late Wednesday evening, June 26, 2013, in Stein Hospice Care Center after a lengthy illness.
She was born Jan. 11, 1937, in Sandusky to the holy union of Rufus and Dora (White) Koonce. She was a graduate of Sandusky High School, and received her cosmetology license from the Apex College of Beauty, Culture, and Hair Dressing, founded by Madame Sara Spencer in Washington, in Chicago. Pauline was employed at Good Samaritan Hospital for many years.
She was a faithful member of Porter’s Memorial C.M.E. Church, where she served on the usher and stewardess boards. She was a creative designer of custom-made church hats. She was also a member of the Electa Chapter No. 193 International Order of the Eastern Star.
Pauline is survived by her sister, Madeline Henderson, of Orange Park, Fla.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Pearline Hinton and Christine Young; and brothers, Robert, Paul and Lee Koonce.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, until funeral services at 11 a.m. at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Entombment will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
