Gloria Jean Bammer, 85, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Monday morning, June 24, 2013, in Erie County Care Facility following a brief illness.
Gloria was born Dec. 30, 1927, in Brooklyn, Mich., daughter of the late Charles “Howard” Dewey and Mabel (Route) Dewey.
Gloria was a member of First Presbyterian Church for many years, proudly singing in the choir with her husband; she was also an active member of the Pass-a-Grille Beach Community Church in St. Pete’s Beach, Fla. She enjoyed reading, cross-word puzzles, and volunteering at the church thrift shop, but most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren at the beach and pool in Florida.
Gloria retired from Perkins School System teaching at Furry Elementary for mire than 26 years.
Gloria is survived by her son, Craig Bammer, of Florida; sister-in-law, Mary Dewey, of Michigan; eight grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Harry E. Bammer; one son, Reggie Bammer; her parents; and brother, Charles H. Dewey.
There will be no visitation. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, at First Presbyterian Church, 265 Jackson St., Sandusky. The Rev. Robert R. Bottoms will officiate. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, is handling arrangements for the family.
