Donald Jamison, 85, of Sandusky and DeBary, Fla., died early Tuesday evening, Feb. 23, 2010, in Ohio Veterans Home.
He was born March 20, 1924, in Sandusky. He worked at Sandusky Foundry and Machine, retiring in 1986. He also worked as a Realtor for Baytown Homes in Sandusky and Husky Real Estate in Florida. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in World War II as a seaman in the Seabees and was a member of the 42nd and 90th Battalion on Iwo Jima in the Pacific theatre. He was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church, Sandusky. In DeBary he was a member of Seabee's Island 19, American Legion Post and AMVETS Post.
Donald is survived by his daughters, Linda Newman of DeBary and Donalynn (Alan) Prosak of Medina, Ohio; six grandchildren, Brian Jamison, Tiffany Kirk, Krista Holmgren, Lori Jennings, Bradley Prosak and Robert Prosak; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Peggy (Dick) Schenk of Huron; brother, David (Bernice) Jamison of Bonita Springs, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene (Freeman) Jamison in 1997; parents, Robert and Margaret Jamison; and brother, Robert F. Jamison.
Friends may call 2-4 p.m. Friday in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Avenue, Sandusky; funeral services will be at 4 p.m. in the funeral home with Chaplain Paul Birmingham officiating. Burial will be in Florida.
