The Rev. Henry J. Fresch, 91, of Norwalk, died Sunday, June 6, 2010.
He was born Aug. 12, 1918, in Sandusky, son of the late Clem and Anna (Lombardi) Fresch. Henry graduated from Sandusky High School in 1937. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II at Headquarters XVI Corps in Germany.
He was a member of Norwalk VFW. He was a welder and member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 42. At the age of 70 he earned an Associate's degree in Ministry at Zoe College. His ministries were as a volunteer at Fisher-Titus Hospital for more than 20 years and a newspaper Bible Study for the Norwalk Reflector and Sandusky Register.
Henry is survived by his wife of 60 years, Amanda (Hershberger) Fresch; daughter, Beverly Robbins of Sandusky; son, Henry D. (Mary Jo) Fresch of Dublin, Ohio; daughter, Sandy (Fred) Hofer of Norwalk; son, James (Marie) Fresch of Norwalk; daughter, Nancy (Randy) Jones of Verona, Ky.; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Mary Larizza of Tequesta, Fla., and Virginia Johnson of Cape Coral, Fla.
He was preceded in death by brothers, James, Clarence and Eugene, and sister, Terry Obergefell.
Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Norwalk First United Methodist Church, 60 W. Main St., Norwalk, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Gary Streiff will officiate. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Norwalk.
