Rose M. Pollack, 84, of Sandusky, passed away early Sunday morning, June 16, 2013, in the Commons of Providence, Sandusky, after a lengthy illness.
She was born Jan. 16, 1929, in Erie, Pa., the daughter of Anton and Marie (Grathwol) Haller. Rose was a 1946 graduate of Strong Vincent High School in Erie. For several years she worked as a seamstress for Singer and later went on to work at Firelands Hospital as a unit secretary for nearly 20 years before retiring.
Rose enjoyed sewing and gardening, but she truly loved volunteering at Stein Hospice throughout the years. So much, that she and her husband, Leon, founded the local chapter of "Compassionate Friends," after the passing of their daughter.
Rose is survived by a daughter, Cindy Pollack of Sandusky; a grandson, Ryan (Sally) Camella of Powell, Ohio; a great-granddaughter, Hayley; nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leon H. Pollack in 2008; a daughter, Debbie Camella in 1984; and a brother, Donald Haller in 2013.
Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, at David F. Koch Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, at the funeral home. Rev. Jamie Stewart of Stein Hospice officiating. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
