Gaynell Vettel, 85, of Blountville, TENN., passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013, in Wellmont Hospice House following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Dante, Va., to Clyde D. and Maude Fields Fuller. She retired from General Motors.
Gaynell loved her family and spent many hours talking and laughing with them. She will be sadly missed by all her family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Vettel; sons, Mike and Tim Johnson; and her former spouse, Edward R Johnson; nine brothers; and four sisters.
She is survived by daughters, Judy Piechocki and husband, Mike, Debby Conley and husband, Bill, of Sandusky, Delores Benoit and husband, Hank, of Norwalk, Patti Daniels and husband, Richard, of Phenix City, Ala., and Cheryl Kidd and husband, Frank, of Blountville; son, Danny Johnson, of Sandusky; stepson, Robert C. Vettel and wife, Carleen, of Castalia; and sister, Jeanette F. Price, of Bristol, Tenn. Her survivors also include many wonderful grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Her daughter and caretaker would like to personally thank Dr. Fred Greear and all nurses at Wellmont Bristol Regional and NHC, as well as Wellmont Hospice House, for their wonderful care and help during her illness.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. Monday, June 17, until funeral service will at 7 p.m. at Akard Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Jim Sproles will officiate. Committal and interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, at Temple Hill Cemetery, Castlewood, Va. Honorary Pallbearers will be her son, grandsons and sons-in-law.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a hospice foundation of your choice.
