James E. “Jim” Bennett Sr., 79, of Lakeside-Marblehead, died Saturday, June 1, 2013, in Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton.
He was born Sept. 17, 1933, in Strongstown, Pa., the son of A. Smith and Eithle (Stephens) Bennett. Jim married Carol Fitz, and he later married Anne Coss, who preceded him in death.
He was a retiree of Ford Motor Company. He was a member of First Christian Church, Sandusky, and the U.S. Power Squadron, Port Clinton, where he was a past-commander. He was a social member of the American Legion, Sandusky, and he enjoyed boating and hunting.
Jim is survived by his son, James E. (Karen) Bennett Jr. of Marblehead; brother, Sam (Barb) Bennett of Barberton, Ohio; grandchildren, Mandy (Todd) Hilditch, and Cody Lenthe.
U.S. Power Squadron Services will be 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, followed by visitation until 8 p.m. at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, Lakeside-Marblehead. Funeral services and burial will be conducted in Indiana, Pa. this weekend.
