Sarah L. Dowdle, 96, of Cadiz, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 2, 2013, at Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz, Ohio.
She was born Jan. 14, 1918, in Kenwood, Ohio, a daughter of Clyde and Icie Thompson Hendershott.
She was a homemaker, a member of Scott United Methodist Church, and a former member of Springdale Friends Church for 80 years, AARP, a former member of the Brushy Fork Homemakers, and was an avid Cleveland Indians Fan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Dowdle in 1969; a son, Willis (Willie) Dowdle on March 12, 2013; three brothers, Lawrence, John, and Clyde Hendershott; a great-grandson; and a great-great-granddaughter.
She is survived by two daughters, Doreen (Max) Miller of Clyde, and Joyce (Jack) Parkhurst of Vickery; daughter-in-law, Alicia Dowdle of Cadiz; two sisters, Mildred McLaughlin of New Waterford, Ohio, and Martha Miller of Glendale, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; three step great-grandchildren, and four step great-great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, at Scott United Methodist Church, 817 E. Market St., Cadiz. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, at the church, Rev. Richard Hasley officiating. Burial will follow at Greewood Cemetery, Hopedale, Ohio.
