Samuel Layne, 80, of the Plymouth and Willard area, died at his home Wednesday May 22, 2013.
He was born Feb. 15, 1933, in Hueysville, Ky., son of the late James R. and Maudie (Hale) Layne. He was married to Dakota (Kidd) Layne who preceded him in death May 17, 2012. Mr. Layne formerly worked as a Crane Operator.
He enjoyed the Sprint Car Races.
Mr. Layne is survived by two daughters, Yvonne Shaffer, of Nashville, Tenn., and Belinda (Don)Terry, of Willard; three grandchildren, Mellissa Terry, of Willard, and Tommy Shaffer and Samantha Ross, of Mansfield, Ohio; and sister, Mary (Burl) Gullett, of Ashland, Ky.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Elbert, Leland and James R. Layne; and four sisters, Julie Martin, Cordelia Conley, Polly Hicks and Yolanda Layne.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 27, at Lindsey-Kocher Funeral Service, 323 Myrtle Ave., Willard, where funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 28. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven, Ohio.
