Aleatha Harper Leavell, 89, Sandusky, died Saturday, May 18, 2013, in Stein Hospice Care Center.
She was born June 25, 1923, in Williamsburg Co., S.C., daughter of the late, Cleveland and Sally (Weaver) Harper. Aleatha was employed by Vogels for more than 40 years.
She was a member of Second Baptist Church, where she was on the Mother’s Board.
She is survived by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Eugene (Beulah) Leavell and Daniel (Lovey) Leavell, of Sandusky, Betty Leavell Johnson, of Erie, Pa., LoDoris Leavell, Brunswick , Ga., and Angela Leavell, of New Orleans; several nieces and nephews; special adopted daughter and son, Verlene and Kenneth Wood; special friends, Elsie Calamese, Annie Card, Lena Clayton, Dorothy Farrar, and Elizabeth Ruffin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis C. Leavell; parents; sisters, Mazie Evans and Louella Sanduro; brothers-in-law, Charles Leavell, Walker Leavell, and Leonard Leavell; and sister-in-law, Greta (Leavell) Marcus.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 25, at Second Baptist Church, 315 Decatur St., Sandusky. The Rev. Reginald Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
