Rose (Kernc) Shoff, 89, of Sandusky, passed away early Wednesday afternoon, May 15, 2013, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, following a battle with leukemia.
She was born June 15, 1923, in Cleveland, daughter of the late Joseph and Katei (Uzbol) Kernc. Rose moved to Sandusky in 1991 to be closer to her family. Rose was an upholstery sewer with Sheraton Furniture in Willoughby for 17 years.
She was very adventurous and enjoyed traveling the United States. Her interests were mainly being around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a life long member of the Slovenien SD2 Lodge of Cleveland and she also became a member of the Sandusky American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 83 after moving to Sandusky.
Rose is survived by her son, Maxwell J. (Bonnie) Shoff, of Sandusky; two grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn (Anthony) DaVila, of Lakewood, Ohio, and Brian Robert (Stacy) Shoff of Cincinnati; three great-grandchildren, Dylan and Madison Shoff and Sophia DaVila.
Rose was preceded in death her husband of 33 years, Maxwell Shoff; her parnets; two sisters, Carrie (Charles) Vild and Ann (Harry) Mack; and two brothers, Joseph Kernc and Allen (Marie) Kernc.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. held Monday, May 20, until prayers at 9:40 a.m. at David F. Koch Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Joe Steinbauer will officiate. Private family graveside services will take place in Willoughby Memorial Gardens, Willoughby, Ohio.
