Marian Elizabeth Rickard Purdham, 83, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013, in Johnson City Medical Center.
She was born March 17, 1930, in Sandusky, daughter of the late Charles and Florance Rickard. Marian was a native of Sandusky but lived in the Jonesborough, Tenn., area for 31 years.
She was of the Christian Faith and had an extreme love for animals.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ross L. Purdham; her parents; two sisters; and four brothers.
Survivors include four daughters, Trudy Bucklew and husband, Larry, Joyce Woodward and husband, Fred, Connie Wohltman and husband, Ray, and Roxanne Cox, and husband, Billy; son, Ross Purdham Jr. and wife, Laurie; sister, Lillian Larson; 10 grandchildren, Guy Babione, Gerald Babione, Ginger English, Brenda Money, Jennifer Flynn, R.T. Purdham, Henry Dwight, Casey Koss, Tyler Wohltman, Little Bill Cox, and Matthew Cox; 19 great-grandchildren, Ashley, Crystal, Stephen, Elizabeth, Josh, Travis, Heather, Tiffany, Michael, Will, Nathan, Isaac, Hannah, Caty, Amanda, Elizabeth “Elle”, Kimberly, Jacob, Jessica and Joshua; and six great-great-grandchildren.
The family wants to give special thanks to the staff at Four Oaks Health Care and Johnson City Medical Center.
Receiving of friends and a memorial service will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 17, at Bethesda United Methodist Church, 4708 Cherokee Road, Jonesborough. Pastor Jake Herron will officiate. There will be an additional receiving of friends 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 20, at Mitchell Auxter Funeral Home in Clyde.
