Mary Anne Benfer, 82, of Republic, passed away Monday May 13, 2013, at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky.
She was born Nov. 15, 1930, in Fremont, to Edwin P. and Anna E. (Grabel) Slaymaker. She married Robert L. Stokes and they later divorced. On June 26, 1966, in Bellevue, she married Dale E. Benfer, and he died July 30, 2010.
Survivors include two sons, Danny (Donna) Benfer of Republic, Ohio, Robert (Valarie) Benfer of Willard; four daughters, Paula L. Laney of Sandusky, Toni Starling of Ravenna, Ohio, Dalana K. Benfer, and Darla G. (Terry) Domich of Tiffin; 25 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a sister, Sharon St Clair of Bellevue; four brothers, Richard Slaymaker of Maryland, Tom Slaymaker of Fremont, Gene Slaymaker of Indianapolis, and Phil Slaymaker of Florida.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert T. Stokes; and her husbands Dale Benfer, and Robert Stokes.
She was a former employee at General Electric in Bellevue, and a Realtor for Wingart Griffin Realtors in Tiffin.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday, May 16, at Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. Ohio 19, Bloomville. Her funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 17, at the funeral home, with Rev. Jeff King officiating. Burial will follow at Armstrong Cemetery, Republic.
