Eula G. Vanzant, age 89, of Castalia, died Monday morning, May 13, 2013, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, following a brief illness.
She was born Dec. 17, 1923, in Union County, Tenn., and retired from Ford Motor Co. in 1982 after 34 years. She was a member of Clyde First Baptist Church, where she was past secretary of the church and Sunday School. She loved flowers, gardening, and crocheting, and was a member of the 23R's Pen Pal Club.
Eula is survived by one daughter, Priscilla (Matt) Vanzant-Hatfield of Castalia; one son, Phelix (Kristine) Vanzant of Sandusky; five grandchildren, Surah Weyer, Phylicia Vanzant, Lurah Hatfield, Kayla Vanzant, and Kodie Vanzant; two great-grandchildren, Rebecca Weyer and Nevaeh Vanzant; one sister, Mildred Smith of Georgia; one brother, Wayne Owsley of Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Vanzant, in 2011; her parents; one sister, Opal Owsley; and three brothers, Rolland, Larnie, and Frank Owsley.
Friends may call 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, May 16, at Ransom Funeral Home, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia. Funeral services will be noon, Friday, May 17, at the funeral home. Pastors Dan Duffy and Garry Sorrell Jr., will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park Cemetery.
