Dexter Lamar Bolton, 45, Sandusky, departed this life unexpectedly on Friday afternoon, May 10, 2013, in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
He was born on March 6, 1968, in Sardis, Miss., to Cathelean (Jesse) Brown and James Thomas. Dexter graduated from Sandusky High School in 1986. He attended Findlay College, where he played football. He also attended Toledo University, where he majored in computer programming. He worked for Bay Harbor for many years, managed at Frisch’s Big Boy and Spoons, and was employed by General Motors in Mansfield and Parma, Ohio.
He enjoyed cooking, playing cards, watching Ohio State, the Cleveland Browns, and the Miami Heat, traveling, and spending time with his children, family, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Dexter is survived by his beloved children, Taylor Bolton of Beaver Falls, Pa., Devin Downy of Houston, Texas, and Kealah Brauher of Rockford, Mich.; twin sister, Debora (Robert) Newson of Coldwater, Miss.; sisters, Latesha Bolton Brown and Keasha Moore, both of Sandusky; special brother, Melvin Brown of Lansing, Mich.; grandparents, Eunice Bolton of Memphis, Tenn., and Velma Brown of Sandusky; and a host of loving relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Pearline and Jesse Bolton, Rosebough “Lula” Thomas, and Isaac Brown.
Friends may call noon-1 p.m. Friday, May 17, at Porter’s Memorial C.M.E. Church, 1722 Third St., Sandusky. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m., at the church, Rev. Rogers Powell will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
