Jimmie F. Burns, 78, of Sandusky, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, in his home after a lengthy illness.
He was born Jan. 22, 1935, in Ivydale, W.Va.
Jimmie was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in Germany from 1952-1956.
He loved to fish and hunt, watch television, and he was an avid Ohio State, Cleveland Indians, and Cleveland Browns fan.
Jimmie is survived by his son, Michael “Mitch” Burns of Sandusky; daughter, Terry Johnson of West Union, Ohio; sister, Rachael Hemmer of Norwalk; and brother, Richard Burns of Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Burns, in 1971; daughter, Michelle “Shelley” Burns, in 2005; sister, Muir; brothers, Barney, Bob, Jack, Bill, and Pete; and Opal Burns, who helped raise both Jimmie and his kids.
A memorial service will be 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky.
