William A. Polta Sr., 74, of Sandusky, died early Friday morning, May 10, 2013, in Erie County Care Facility following a lengthy illness.
He was born March 4, 1939, son of the late Lawrence (Ada Knauer) Polta and Virginia (Snyder) Draht.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was employed as a Sandusky Fireman and worked for Erie County in the maintenance department for several years. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
William is survived by his wife, Carol (Kellerman) Polta; two sons, Larry C. (Jill) Polta, of Vickery and Craig A. (Darla) Polta, of Norwalk; six grandchildren, Damon, Tiffany, Caitlyn, Tabatha, Taylor and Dayn Polta; one great-granddaughter, Grace Polta; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
William was preceded in death by his son, William Andrew Jr. in 2010; his parents; and his sister, Kay Miller.
At the family’s request, there will be no services and cremation will take place. Private family burial will take place at a later date at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is handling arrangements.
