John Laurence Clark, 56, of Huron, Friday, died May 3, 2013, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.

He was born July 2, 1956, in Hartford, Conn., and lived in Greenfield, Mass., Madison, Wis. and Oxford, Ohio, before moving to Huron.

John received a master’s degree in college student personnel service from Miami University in 1995 and became career services coordinator at BGSU Firelands. Working with students was the most fulfilling part of his job. He was especially sensitive to the unique challenges of non-traditional and veteran students and extended exceptional efforts to ensure their success at the college. His creation of the “Career Doctor” persona and his role in identifying internships and job opportunities for BGSU Firelands students benefited hundreds. John’s contributions to the college were appreciated and applauded on a regular basis by both employees and students. He received the Dean’s Special Recognition Award in 2011 and the Distinguished Part-Time Teacher award in 2004.

He worked with local youth groups, and the youth of Team Challenge in Sandusky. He was an active participant for 12 years in the Search for the Christ Child. He volunteered at his local church, The Chapel Sandusky, in the prayer ministry as well as Food for the Poor.
