Thomas James Krafty, 60, of Sandusky, passed away late Friday morning, May 3, 2013, at his residence after a lengthy illness.
He was born Aug. 26, 1952, in Sandusky, son of the late James Arthur Krafty and Jeanne E. (May) Krafty. Thomas graduated from Sandusky High School in 1970, where he was a National Merit Letter of Commendation winner. He worked at Cedar Point, and then Myer’s Bottle Gas, before receiving his Associates Degree from BGSU Firelands in 1991, plus additional education at Heidelberg University in Maumee, Ohio. He was employed as a respiratory therapist at the Cleveland Clinic for 20 years.
He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sandusky, as well as the AARC and a past member of the Elks Lodge. He enjoyed reading, traveling (especially to Las Vegas) and he was an avid sports fan. He loved baseball, the Buckeyes, and Mount Union Purple Raiders football. He also loved his two chihuahuas, Max and Gizmo.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Camille (Krouse) Krafty, whom he married June 19, 1976. They spent 37 wonderful years together and each considered the other “The Love of Their Life.” He is also survived by his daughter, Katrina (Donnie) Walter, of Mansfield, Ohio; two sons, Thomas Matthew Krafty, of Sandusky, and Christopher Krafty, of Huron; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Rose, Donald Lee, Evelyn Amelia and Calvin Thomas Walter; his two siblings, Linda (Alan) Lonz, of Sandusky, and Michael (Susie) Krafty, of Sandusky. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Believing that life begins at conception, he was preceded in death by two fetuses, one 6-weeks-old and the other 16-weeks. He was also preceded by his parents and his grandparents, Michael and Helena Krafty, and Ralph and Angela May.
Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Monday, May 6, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, where prayers will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 428 Tiffin Ave., Sandusky. Private family burial will take place at a later date at Bellevue Catholic Cemetery.
