Edward L. McGinn Sr., 81, of Norwalk, died Friday, May 3, 2013, in Fisher-Titus Medical Center, Norwalk.
He was born Aug. 25, 1931, in Norwalk, son of the late Myles and Marie (Grosswiler) McGinn and was a lifelong area resident. Ed was a member of St. Mary Ligouri Catholic Church, Norwalk, Ohio and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving during the Korean War. He was a former employee of Rockwell Manufacturing, Norwalk, and retired from Ford Motor Company, Sandusky, in 1992 with 30 years of service.
Ed was a member of Ken Bur Bell Post 41 American Legion, Norwalk, and Firelands Post 2743 VFW, Norwalk. He enjoyed fishing and tinkering, farming, was an avid Cleveland Indians fan, and was a handyman. Ed especially enjoyed his family, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Agnes M. (Schneider) McGinn, of Norwal; his children, Patty (Jeff) Reitzel, of Norwalk, Edward L. (Melanie) McGinn Jr., of Norwalk, and Mary Claus (Terry Bennett), of Gainesville, Ga.; grandchildren, Dana, Nick, Stacy, Stephen, Tabitha, Kevin, Katy and Emily; great grandchildren, Nathan, Paige, Jennifer, Lilli, Avery and Carson; and his sisters, Margaret Ashley, Gertrude McGinn and Cecilia Young, all of Norwalk, and Virginia (John) Jarvis, of Bellevue.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Myles B. "Bob" McGinn, and by his sisters, Betty McGinn and Marie Doughty.
Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 6, at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, at St. Mary Ligouri Catholic Church, 38 W. League St., Norwalk. The Rev. Anthony Recker will officiate. Interment will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Norwalk.
