Kara M. Brotzki, 34, of Bay View, passed away late Thursday evening, May 2, 2013, in Toledo Hospital, Toledo, after a brief illness.
She was born May 10, 1978, in Cleveland, daughter of Kenneth Albert and Marsha Kay (Smith) Schenk. Kara was a 1996 graduate of Margaretta High School and a graduate of Terra Community College with an Associates Degree in Business. For nearly 10 years, she worked as a caseworker for the Erie Metro Housing Authority.
Kara enjoyed spending time with her family and her dog Trixie. She was an avid reader, enjoyed writing and the Holidays — especially Halloween. Kara was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 13 years, Brian J. Brotzki, whom she married Oct. 21, 2000; her parents, Kenneth A. and Marsha K. Schenk, of Bay View; two brothers, Christopher (Kelly) Schenk, of Brunswick, Ohio, and Brian (Alyssa) Schenk, of Vickery; a niece, Jocelyn Schenk; two nephews, Jaemar and Jamari Pickens; maternal grandparents, Harold and Marilyn Smith, of Sandusky; paternal grandparents, Wanda Savage, of Sandpoint, Idaho, and Albert (Jennifer) Schenk Jr., of Huron; mother-in-law, Cindy Klein, of Tiffin; father-in-law, Michael Brotzki, of Sandusky; sister-in-law, Michele Brotzki, of Sandusky; brother-in-law, Andrew Brotzki, of Sandusky; aunt, Susan Smith, of Sandusky: uncle, Michael Smith, of Sandusky; and other aunts, uncles and cousins.
Kara was preceded in death by an aunt, Sharon Cohen; paternal and maternal great-grandparents.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, May 6, at David F. Koch Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, and from 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, until funeral services at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Bardshar Road, Sandusky. The Rev. Philip A. Gardner will officiate. Burial will be in Venice Cemetery, Castalia.
