Robert A. Crockett, 82, born in Green Springs, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at home with his family by his side in Clyde.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Beverly A. Kuns; and children, Christine M. (Dennis) Leiter, David R. (Jayne) Crockett, Mark A. (Maureen) Crockett, Robert S. (Alicia) Crockett, Bruce E. (Heidi) Crockett and Frank J. (Tamara) Crockett. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and siblings, Barbara (Norm) Horn, Jerry Crockett, Judy (John) Rusing and Thomas (Joanne) Crockett.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert S. Crockett and Marie (Homegardner) Crockett; a sister, Joyce (Reeves) Taylor; sister-in-law, Sue Crockett; and a grandson, Chad R. Crockett.
Robert, known as “Boss” by his family, graduated from Clyde High School, began working on the family farm, and at Whirlpool in Clyde as a welder. He was the original entrepreneur and dreamer, co founding in 1957 with his dad and brothers, Green Hills Golf Course, Clyde. In 1982 they started Woussickett Golf Course in Sandusky, opening in 1984.
When not working, which was seldom, Robert enjoyed family, music, and was great at telling a story or a good joke.
Friends will be received 5-8 p.m. Saturday, May 4, and again 1-5 p.m. Sunday, May 5, at Foos Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 504 E. McPherson Hwy., Clyde, where the Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. Sunday. A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 6, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 609 Vine St., Clyde. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
