Robert J. Riedy died March 11, 2013, of natural causes at his residence in Donna, Texas. He was 95.
A lifelong farmer, of Collins, and a truck driver, he hauled steel and freight over the entire country. After retiring, he began spending winters in south Texas and summers in Collins.
He loved dancing and enjoyed the old musical ballads. Even in his 90s, he and his dancing partner would clear the floor. He was a charter member of the Townsend Volunteer Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Hannah; brother, Howard Riedy, of Collins; sister, Ruth Kruchowsky, of Arizona; son-in-law, Spencer Dean Cole; and grandson, David Cole, of Collins.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Doud, of Arizona; daughters, Beverly Cole, of Indiana, Diane DeVeny, of Sandusky, and Debra Sanchez, of Bellevue; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
