James A. Scheufler, 83, residing in Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly Sunday afternoon, April 28, 2013, at home.
He was born May 30, 1929, in Sandusky, son of the late Alfred and Louise (Schemenauer) Scheufler. James was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War and was a self-employed painter for many years.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and enjoyed listening to classical music on the radio, reading, watching television, travelling, his cats and visiting with his family.
He is survived by his niece, Nancy (John) Stewart of Huron; his two nephews, Ron (Irma) Scheufler and Merrett (Lynn) Scheufler, of Sandusky; and many great-nieces and nephews.
Including his parents, James was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Louise Byington; two brothers, Paul Scheufler and Merrett Scheufler Sr.; and two nephews, Richard Scheufler and Robert Byington.
There will be no visitation; private family services will take place. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Groff Funeral Home and Crematory in Sandusky is handling arrangements
