Robert J. "Bob" Dickman, 77, Castalia, passed away early Friday afternoon, April 26, 2013, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, surrounded by his whole loving family.
He was born June 28, 1935, in Sandusky, the son of Oscar and Eulalia Marie (Buddenhagen) Dickman. He was a 1954 graduate of Sandusky High School.
Bob worked for the Ford Motor Company in Sandusky for 30 years, retiring on April 1, 1993. He cherished spending time with his family. Bob also enjoyed fishing, building and remodeling homes, but most of all he was a diehard, "war buff" and enjoyed watching and absorbing any information that may have to do with the Civil War, World War I, World War II and any other conflict around the world on the History Channel. In his earlier days, he had volunteered on the Perkins Fire Department for several years. Bob was a member of the Sandusky Community Church of the Nazarene and the U.A.W. Local 1216.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nancy A. (Gast) Dickman, whom he married on February 4, 1956; daughter, Mary A. Dickman of Castalia; son, Brian (Linda) Dickman of Sandusky; two sisters, Barbara (Ron) Brownell and Janet Anthos both of Sandusky; four brothers, Gary (Judy) Dickman of Norwalk, Gordon Dickman of Fremont, Ronald Dickman and Richard "Butch" (Linda) Dickman both of Sandusky; step brother, Robert "Bobby" Hart of Sandusky; many nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Mary S. Dickman; and his other very special family members and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Donald Dickman; step father, Kenneth Hart; two sisters-in-law, Shirley and Marlene Dickman; and brother-in-law, Jim Anthos.
Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Monday, April 29, and 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, at Sandusky Community Church of the Nazarene, 1617 Milan Road, Sandusky. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church, Rev. David P. Flack officiating. Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery, Castalia.
