Ruth E. (Gribben) Witt, of Norwalk, died early Saturday morning, April 27, 2013, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
She was born in Fitchville Township, Huron County, daughter of the late Clarence and Chloe (Pond) Wolfe, was raised in Greenwich, and lived in the New London and Norwalk areas most of her life.
Ruth was a member of the Norwalk First United Methodist Church and was a former sales representative for B-Line Clothing and Avon Products. She was also a former employee of Wappler Instrument Company (ACMI/Olympus) and K & H Drug Store, both of Norwalk.
She enjoyed being outdoors, plants and flower gardening, traveling, camping with her family, and was an especially avid Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Cavaliers fan.
Ruth is survived by her husband of 45 years, Robert W. Witt, of Norwalk; her children, Craig R. Gribben, of Sandusky, and Brett A. (Lupe) Gribben, of Milan; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister and brother in law, June and Charles May, of Greenwich, and by her brother, Howard Wolfe, of New London.
Ruth was preceded in death by her son, Mark Gribben, in 2005; by her first husband, Robert Gribben, in 1966; and by her sisters, Almeda Thomas, Erma Coy, Evelyn Wacker, Helen Millen and Marge Bellamy.
Friends may call 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, and from 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, until a service at noon at the funeral home. The Rev. Gary Streiff, Pastor of the Norwalk First United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwich Greenlawn Cemetery.
