Mary Paula Steadman, 73, of Sandusky, passed away early Monday evening, April 22, 2013, in Concord Care Nursing Home, Sandusky, after a lengthy illness.
She was born Aug. 5, 1939, in Sandusky, daughter of the late Claude and Ruth Elizabeth (Wall) Steadman. She was a 1957 graduate of St. Mary Catholic High School and a 1961 graduate of St. John College in Cleveland, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. Paula was a registered nurse having worked, in her earlier days, at Providence Hospital and later went on to work at the Erie County Health Department for more than 20 years, before retiring.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, its Altar Rosary Society, a former board member of Cancer Services of Erie County and she had volunteered for a variety of other local charities throughout the years.
Paula is survived by her friends and neighbors, Ted and Florence Schaffer, of Sandusky; a cousin, Marjorie Pooch, of Castalia; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, at David F. Koch Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, where prayers will be recited at 9:40 a.m. Thursday, April 25, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Jason Kahle will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Sandusky.
